Editing a Component

Editing a component's master updates every instance of that component across your entire project. Here's how to enter and edit the master safely.

How to Enter a Component Master

  1. Find any instance of the component on the canvas (look for the purple selection border).

  2. Right-click the instance and select "Go to Master Component". This takes you to the master in the Assets panel or on the canvas.

  3. Alternatively, hold Cmd/Ctrl and double-click the instance to enter it and directly edit the master in context.

Making Edits Inside the Master

  1. Once inside the master, select any sub-element (text, image, shape).

  2. Make your changes — resize, recolor, reposition, or edit text.

  3. Press Escape to exit back to the main canvas.

  4. All instances of this component now reflect your changes.

⚠️ Note: Be careful when editing the master — it updates ALL instances. If you only want to change one specific card or button, use instance-level overrides instead (see the "Overriding Component Instances" article).

💡 Tip: A quick way to check if you're editing the master: look at the breadcrumb at the top of the canvas — it will show you the component name. If you see a purple-outlined canvas frame, you're in the master.
