Adjusting Line Height and Letter Spacing
Line height and letter spacing are the subtle controls that separate polished typography from amateur text. Your template already has these dialed in, but here's how to tweak them.
Line Height
Line height is the vertical space between lines of text. Too tight and text feels cramped; too loose and it feels disconnected.
Headings — Usually tight: 1.1–1.2× the font size. Large text needs less line height.
Body text — Usually looser: 1.5–1.7× the font size. This improves readability for long paragraphs.
Captions/Labels — Around 1.3–1.4×.
Setting Line Height in Framer
Select a text element or open its text style.
In the right panel, look for Line Height in the text section.
You can set it in px (absolute) or % / em (relative to font size). Relative is generally preferred.
Letter Spacing
Letter spacing (also called tracking) adds space between individual characters. Use it sparingly:
Large headings — Slightly negative (e.g., -0.02em) to feel more elegant and tight.
All-caps labels/tags — Slightly positive (e.g., +0.08em) to improve readability of uppercase text.
Body text — Leave at 0 unless there's a specific reason to change it.
💡 Tip: A good rule: as text gets larger, use slightly tighter letter spacing. As text gets smaller (especially all-caps), use slightly wider letter spacing.
